The stage is set. The actors are primed and it’s almost curtain time.
“The Fantasticks” will open at tonight at the Trojan Center Theater on the campus of Troy University and will run nightly at 7:30 through Saturday with a 2:30 matinee performance on Sunday. General admission tickets for the show are $10 and student tickets are $5, including university student tickets with an ID.
“The Fantasticks” is the longest running musical in history. The book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt, remained a New York institution on Broadway for almost 42 years.
“‘The Fantasticks’ has been called the perfect musical,” said Adena Moree, director of theater and dance at Troy University. “The deceptively simple story follows a young couple and their fathers who try to get them together by keeping them apart. The show is a timeless, magical tale of love and the pain of growing up. It’s a beautifully crafted theatrical experience that audiences have loved time and again. ‘The Fantasticks’ is a fun musical that will be a hit with all in attendance.”
Tickets maybe purchased in advance through the Trojan Center Box Office at 670-3293 or at the door.
