CHHS softball team loses home game

The Charles Henderson softball team lost 8-1 in Troy to Straughn High School Tuesday night.

The Lady Trojans are back in action Thursday when they head to Eufaula for an area game.

PLAS alum places second in tourney

Huntingdon sophomore Chase Rogers paced the Hawks in the Emory Spring Invitational golf tournament Tuesday.

Rogers finished second in the field of 79 players. Rogers had a tournament-low round of 66 on the opening 18 holes and followed that with a 73 in the late round of the day. The Pike Liberal alum finished two strokes behind individual champion Jake Pleczkowski of Methodist.

PLAS JV baseball takes out LSA

The Pike Liberal Arts JV baseball team (15-5) beat Lee Scott 7-0 in Auburn Tuesday night.

Lawson Stewart led the Patriots, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Gregory Barnette and Robert Benton went 2-for-4 and Blake Floyd picked up the win on the mound.

The Patriots will face Edgewood in the first round of the AISA JV Baseball State Tournament Friday at 2 p.m. in Cecil.
