Services for Mattie E. Passmore, age 73, of Troy, Ala., who died April 5, 2009, will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Troy with Rev. Charlie Sankey officiating.
Burial will follow at the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Troy. Visitation will be from 1 p.m to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy.
Mattie E. Passmore was born April 12, 1935 in Troy the second child of the late LeRoy Passmore and the late Myrtle Lee Passmore.
She received Christ under the leadership of Charlie Sankey at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She graduated from Pike County High School and attended Alabama State University in 1952.
She met and married James Ginyard. She was an active member of the church, where she became an Eastern Star in 1975.
She was also a substitute teacher for the Pike County School System, where she continued to work for many years.
She has lived a full life working in the Home Health Care System, enriching her life and others. She was a tireless worker.
She was loved and respected by all that she touched.
She was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren and will deeply be missed.
She will especially be missed by her very devoted and loving companion, her daughter- in-law, Faye Passmore.
Mattie E. Passmore is preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy Passmore and Myrtle Lee Passmore.
Her survivors include: her husband, James Ginyard; her loving children, Frank Passmore (Faye), Troy, Sheryl Foreman, Stone Mountain, Ga., Phyllis Horace (Frankie), Phenix City, Brenda Brockton, Powder Springs, Ga., John Brockton (Ramona), Troy, and Dion Rouse (Timisha), Stone Mountain; her sisters and brothers, Leroy Passmore, Detroit, Jackie Moody, Troy, Myrtle Smith (Ruth), Troy, and Joe C. Passmore, Troy; one sister-in-law, Emma Passmore, Detroit; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and very devoted friends.
