The Eagles trailed 1-0 the fourth inning when they scored three runs, including Jordan’s two RBIs.
“Mary Jordan came in and did an outstanding job for us,” GHS head coach Dee Hughes said. “Her play at the plate was a big turning point in the game.”
Niyokia Slater plated Sam Roy with a single to score the winning run at 4-1.
Alli Warrick picked up the win on the mound, throwing a complete game and striking out 11 batters.
Melissa Kennedy and Nick Jones combined to strike out 10 batters in the Lady Trojans (4-16) 3-1 win over Elba Tuesday in a five-inning game. Kennedy struck out seven of the nine batters she faced and Jones struck out three.
The Lady Trojans scored two runs in the first inning and one in the second.
“We made some good plays and hit the ball when we needed to,” CHHS head coach Steve Haug said. “It was good to watch them play sound fundamental softball. I am proud of them for how they played today.”
Taylor Smartt, Victoria Outlaw and Brooke Hudson, who was running for Kennedy, each scored one run Tuesday.
