The Pike County Cattleman’s Association Annual Equipment Auction will be from 9 a.m. until everything is “off the block” on Saturday, April 4, at Cattleman Park on U.S. Highway 231 South of Troy.
And, when the Pike County Cattlemen have an auction, they do so in a big way.
“It’s going to be a big auction and, by that, I mean that we have a lot of items and we also have a lot of big items,” said Johnny Garrett, association president. “We’ve got several hundred pieces of farm equipment, including tractors, plows and other farm implements such as mule collars and double trees. We’ve got old wash pots and cotton baskets and, at least, one antique tractor.”
However, farm equipment is just part of what will be on the auction block. There will be between 50 and 60 vehicles, including small trucks and several big trucks that belong to the City of Troy.
“There’ll also be a police car or two and we’ve got a Corvette that a lot of people should be interested in,” Garrett said. “We’ve got several flatbed trailers and utility trailers and we always have many small items that include just about anything you can think of.”
The buyers will be asked to pick up a number for bidding purposes and there will be ladies in the building who will total up the figures once the individual bidding is completed.
“Buyers will be asked to pay on Saturday but will have 10 days to move the equipment,” Garrett said. “We want to thank all of those that have brought items for bid and all of those that come ready to buy. The money that we earn from the Equipment Auction is used to help with the maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds at Cattleman Park. We really appreciate the strong support we get from the public.”
