The recently elected Congressman Bobby Bright will make his way to Pike County Friday afternoon as part of an attempt to visit each of the cities in his district.

From 3 to 4 p.m. today, Bright will hold a “Congress on Your Corner” event at the Dollar General in downtown Brundidge.

Bright’s Press Secretary Lewis Lowe said this event will give residents a chance to visit and meet with their representative to discuss any issue they wish to address.

“It’s basically just a way for people to come by and meet him,” Lowe said.

Lowe said this will mark the 11th time Bright has held a “Congress on Your Corner” event to meet district residents.

But aside from simply meeting residents, Lowe said this is a way to let residents know about the local offices and how those offices can address needs.

Case workers from district offices will be at the event letting residents know about assistance they can provide with things like social security and Medicare.

District offices are located in Dothan, Montgomery, Ozark and Opp, and Lowe said they are available to all residents in the second congressional district.

While the event will be held in Brundidge Friday, residents all over Pike County are invited to come speak with Bright.

Bright will also visit surrounding cities Friday and Saturday, and Pike County residents are invited to attend those as well. They are as follows: Small Business Survival Seminar at 8 a.m. in Montgomery and a Meet and Greet at Shiver’s Restaurant from 11:45 to 12:45 in Ozark, both on Friday. On Saturday, Bright will be in Dothan at the Arts Rocks Festival from 10:30 a.m. to noon and the Brantine’s Fish and Oyster Market from 12:15 to 1 p.m. Bright will also attend the Piney Woods Arts Festival in Enterprise from 1:45 to 3 p.m.
