Trojans downed on road

Charles Henderson’s trip to Enterprise Monday night ended with an 11-4 loss at the hands of the Wildcats.
The No. 3 Trojans (14-5) committed an uncharacteristic four errors Monday night in the loss. Mitch McLeod and Jake Smith combined to allow 11 runs on 12 hits. The pair struck out three and walked one. McLeod was hit with the loss.
Enterprise jumped ahead early 3-0 in the first inning and bumped the score to 4-0 before the Trojans scored one run in the third inning.
Chance Shaver doubled in the inning and Parker Sanders double him across the plate to trim the lead to 4-1.
The Wildcats pushed their lead to 7-1 in the bottom of the inning, but CHHS cut it to 7-3 in the fourth inning. David Fleming walked, Nathan Barron hit into a fielder’s choice and Jared Rogers singled to bring Fleming and Barron home.
Enterprise again answered in the bottom of the inning to push the lead to 10-3. Troy scored its final run in the fifth when K.D. Edenfield reached on an error and McLeod hit into a fielder’s choice to score Edenfield. The Wildcats capped the scoring in the bottom of the fifth.
Shaver was 2-for-3 on the night with two doubles and one run scored. Sanders, McLeod, Rogers, Dario Rouse and Wesley Hayes each had one hit.
Up next for CHHS is the opening area game of the season today at Eufaula.
