Patriots victorious over Crenshaw

Pike Liberal’s Patriots took to the road and won another game Monday afternoon. This time the victim was Crenshaw Christian and the score was 7-4 in favor of Pike.
The No. 1 Patriots (10-1) trailed 2-0 after the first inning was finished, but Pike came back with three runs in the second inning to take the lead.
Alex Adams reached on an error, Corey Goodson was hit by a pitch, Trey Walters reached on an error to score Adams and Ross Hixon reached on an error to score Goodson and Walters.
After Crenshaw tied the game at 3-3 in the second, Pike went back up with two runs in the third inning.
Will Starling walked, Adams reached on an error, Goodson hit a sacrifice fly to score Starling and Walters reached on an error that plated Adams.
The Cougars cut the lead to 5-4 in the fifth inning, but the Patriots added two insurance runs in the sixth when Starling singled and Logan Stewart singled in Starling and scored on an error.
Sam Carroll picked up the win on the mound, pitching two innings and allowing three runs on two hits. He struck out one, walked two and hit one batter.
Hixon notched the save, throwing the final two innings with two strikeouts and two walks.
The Pike Liberal softball team also won 7-4 over Crenshaw Monday, but no statistics were available at press time.
