Walter Hennigan

Mr. Walter Kenneth Hennigan age 74 of Troy died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at his home.
Memorial Services will be Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from the St. Martins Catholic Church with Father Eamon Miley officiating Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
He is survived by his wife Becky Morris Hennigan of Troy, daughter and son-in-law Dare Hennigan and Jeff Bonner of Eufaula, sons and daughters-in-law John and Kellie Hennigan of Panama City, Mark and Barbara Hennigan of Madison, Al., and David Hennigan of Opelika, grandchildren Jamie Hennigan, Becca Bonner, Matt Hennigan, Scott Bonner, Mark Hennigan, Troy Hennigan, and Krystyna Hennigan.
Memorials may be made to the Hennigan-Morris Scholarship foundation at Troy University.
Mr. Hennigan retired from the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1977. In the military he served as a navigator, pilot, personnel staff officer, and as a professor of aerospace studies at Troy State University, in the 1950’s he was involved in the Lebanon, and Taiwan crisis’s and later in the Cuban Missile crisis and served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. In 1960 he was elected to be an original member of the United States Air Force Air Commandoes. In 1972 he served as the United States Air Force’s Ambassador to the Munich Olympics. After retiring from the Military in 1977 he served at Troy State University as the director of development and alumni affairs and later as the director of personnel until his retirement from Troy State University in 1997.
