Troy Police are still investigating after a string of local burglaries occurred last week.

An exact number was not given, but Troy Police Chief Anthony Everage said many local apartments and residences of Troy University students were broken into during the school’s spring break last week. The instances, all reported last weekend, took place in homes on South Brundidge, Elm, Gibbs, Blackmon and B Streets, as well as on Highland, State and Pell Avenues.

Items ranging from game systems, TVs, computers, firearms, checkbooks, cell phones, iPods, books, jewelry, furniture, clothing a GPS and checkbooks and currency were just some of what was reported stolen.

Troy Police have not identified any suspects in any of the instances yet, but they are continuing investigations.

Everage urges anyone with information about these burglaries to contact the Troy Police Department at 566-0500 or the Secret Witness Line at 566-5555.

“The Troy Police Department depends on the public to be the eyes and ears for the police, and together we can make a difference,” Everage said.

And, Benny Scarbrough, spokesman for the police department, said anyone else who may have been burglarized over spring break should contact the police immediately.

“Let us come process that scene. Even if the incident is several days old, there may be some evidence that is useful,” Scarbrough said.
