Trojans dominate track
The Charles Henderson track and field team opened the 2009 season by blowing away the competition March 6.
The CHHS boys’ team won with 256 points and took home 11 first place finishes.
Justin Davis won the 400-meter dash. Lloyd Shillabeer took home the 3,200. Aaron Johnson won the 800. Jawara White, Quantavius Grimes, Jabari Brown and Laquiviuos Bryant combined to win the 4×100 relay. Isiah Wilson snagged the 110-meter hurdles.
Ladarius Sanchious won the high jump, title. Wilson won the triple jump. Jeremy Adair doubled up Friday with the discus and shot put titles. Daniel Hartley won the javelin throw and Sanchious and Wilson tied for the long jump title.
Other teams competing Friday were Carroll-Ozark, Greenville, Luverne and Goshen.
Kasheena Grandberry dominated the girls’ field for Troy. She won the shot put, discus and javelin throw.
Sharlie Brooks took home the one mile and two mile runs.
The Trojans 4×100 relay team brought home the first place finish and Ashley Miller won the 800. The girls beat Luverne and Carroll.
