Funeral Services for Tim Meeks, 54, of Troy, will be Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. from the First Baptist Church with Dr. Luke Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Mr. Meeks died Thursday, March 5 at Troy Regional Medical Center.
Charles Timothy Meeks was born October 21, 1954 in Covington Co, Ala. His family moved to Troy when he was 5 years old. Tim attended Troy City Schools and enjoyed recreation league baseball throughout his youth. He was a member of the CHHS football, baseball and track teams. He also attended Troy State University where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity.
Tim worked with his family as a youngster in the family business, Meeks Termite and Pest Control. He joined his brother as co-owner 15 years ago.
He served on the Alabama State Pest Control Board of Directors from 2005-2008.
He was a very dedicated father to his daughters. Girl Scouts, sports boosters, dance competitions and recitals, President of Auburn University’s Tiger Pause Parents Club and a Children’s Church leader were several activities that he enjoyed with his daughters and their friends. He always made everyone smile.
Tim was a member of the Troy Rotary Club and also a former member of Pike County Heart Board.
He was an avid hunter and fishermen and was an integral part of the family business, Family Ties Boutique.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Debbie McLure Meeks, daughter and son-in-law Brooke Meeks Terry and Jason Terry; daughter Lauren Meeks; granddaughters Abbi-Kay and Lexie Terry; parents Charles and Josephine Meeks; mother-in-law Juawana McLure; brother and sister-in-law Greg and Tami Meeks all of Troy; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Donna and Gary Jones of Enterprise; nieces and nephews Lindsay and Hamilton Jones of Enterprise; and Chrissy and Martin Meeks of Troy.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association and First Baptist Church of Troy.
Pallbearers: James Barron, Bubba Conrad, Allen Jones, Thomas Outlaw, Randall Smith and Jerry Spurlock all of Troy, and Jeff Miller of Montgomery.
Honorary Pallbearers: Jim and Nina Terry, Will, Ben, and Sam Jones, and employees of Meeks Termite and Pest Control.
