Morrissy honored by Sun Belt

NEW ORLEANS — The Sun Belt Conference released its all-conference teams for both men and women this morning, and Troy University senior Kylie Morrissy was among the 15 players who were rewarded for their play this season.

Morrissy, a senior from Geelong, Australia was named First Team All-Conference for the first time in her career. This is the third such honor for Morrissy, who was named Third Team following her sophomore season and a was a Third Team preseason selection this season.

“This is a terrific honor for Kylie,” Troy head coach Michael Murphy said. “She has worked hard while a student-athlete here at Troy with virtually every team we play designing their defense to stop her offensively. Kylie has been able to score when has been double-teamed and triple-teamed all season. This is just such a great honor for her and is terrific for the program.”

She joins Middle Tennessee’s Alysha Clark, UALR’s Chastity Reed, North Texas’ Amber Jackson and Arnika Brown from WKU on the first team.

The senior guard averages 17 points per game, leading her team in that category and is third in the conference. She scored in double figures in 25 of 28 regular season games.

The Trojans host the University of Louisiana-Lafayette at Trojan Arena Wednesday night in the first round of the Sun Belt Tournament. The game tips at 7 p.m.
