Pike Liberal split at CCA

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots and Lady Patriots hit the road this weekend for a road trip. The Lady Patriots came back with a sweep of Macon-East and Crenshaw Christian, but the Patriots split the two games.

On Saturday, the No. 5 Lady Patriots (14-8) took down Crenshaw 35-19. In the regular season finale for the squad Anna Saunders led the team with 10 points. Katie Wiggins and Josie Griffin added seven points apiece.

The Patriots (11-11) fell to Crenshaw Christian Saturday, 60-47. Douglas Hawkins led the team with 13 points. He added three rebounds. Justin McLaughlin had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Saturday varsity games were a split Saturday, but the squads both won their respective game Friday night against region rival Macon-East.

With the win the Patriots finish the season with a 6-6 region record. They beat the Knights Friday in tight fashion, 58-57.

Hawkins had 18 points and McLaughlin chipped in 16 points and 14 rebounds.

The Lady Patriots took out Macon East 39-36 to clinch the No. 2 seed in the region tournament. The Lady Pats finished with an 8-4 region record.

Rebecca Farrar led the Lady Patriots with 12 points Friday. Eady Pinckard added nine points and 10 rebounds and Wiggins and Griffin chipped in eight points apiece.

The Lady Patriots will open the area tournament Thursday at Huntingdon College at 10 a.m. and the Patriots will follow at 11:30 a.m.
