The Charles Henderson boys’ varsity basketball team inched back towards the .500 mark for the season with a 60-50 area win over Carroll Tuesday night.

The Trojans (9-11, 3-2 AHSAA Class 5A, Area 3) dominated Carroll in the first half, but they almost gave the game away in the second half.

“We played good in the first half, but we blew a 20-point halftime lead in the second half,” CHHS head coach Carl Hollis said. “We hit some big shots in the first half and we took care of the ball well all night.”

Hollis said this is a big area win for the Trojans, but they cannot let up the intensity because they host Eufaula Friday night in another area matchup.

Daris Wilson led the Trojans with 11 points and 10 assists in the win. Courtney Brasell added 10 points. Jabari Brown had eight points and eight rebounds. Steve Baker and Quez Hall also added eight points apiece. Jawara White chipped in five points and eight rebounds.

The Lady Trojans (9-8, 4-1) dropped a heartbreaker to Carroll 56-54 Tuesday. Head coach Dyneshia Jones could not be reached at press time.
