Troy Police have arrested a Troy man for allegedly robbing two local banks.

James Henry Davis, 50, of Troy, was taken into custody Wednesday around noon for allegedly robbing Colonial Bank in a Friday afternoon robbery Jan. 9, said Troy Police Chief Anthony Everage.

The incident occured around 4:30 p.m. last week.

Brundidge Police Chief Moses Davenport said from Troy’s investigation Davis was found also to be the suspect who robbed Troy Bank & Trust in December 2008.

“During their investigation, Troy Police were able to tell this guy was possibly the same person that robbed our bank,” Davenport said. “It was dedicated work by the Troy Police Department.”

He has been charged with two counts of robbery first degree and his bond is set at $60,000 for each charge.

Davis allegedly stole $2,500 from Troy Bank & Trust, as has already been reported in The Messenger, but Troy Police would not say how much was taken in the Colonial Bank robbery.

Everage said Davis was picked up for questioning Wednesday morning by detectives, after they followed up on leads in connection to the bank robbery.

“Detectives have recovered evidence in connection with this case and are continuing their investigation into the robbery,” Everage said.

Davis has been taken to the Pike County Jail, where he remains in custody on bond.

Troy Police were assisted by the Pike County District Attorney’s office in the investigation.
