“We conducted an investigation in connection to a sexual abuse crime, and the investigation led to the arrest of Donnie Ray Townsend,” Scarbrough said.

He was taken into custody on an arrest warrant from his home on Barron Road, Scarbrough said.

Scarbrough would not say from what the sexual abuse charge stemmed specifically, but according to the Criminal Laws of the State of Alabama sexual abuse first degree refers to “subjecting another person to sexual conduct by forcible compulsion or subjecting another person to sexual contact who is incapable of consent.”

The crime is a Class C felony, and if Townsend is found guilty, he could face between one and 10 years.

Townsend was transported to the Pike County Jail, and he has been released on bond.

His bond was set at $10,000.
