FBC production focuses on ‘God’s Promise’

First Baptist Church of Troy will present A Living Christmas Tree production of “God’s Promise” at 5 and 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7.

The public is invited and admission is free and no ticket is required.

“‘God’s Promise’ is a musical and dramatic presentation that celebrates the Birth of Christ,” said Jean Eakes, production coordinator. “It portrays the entire Christ story beginning the prophesy of Isaiah.”

The music will be a blend of traditional and contemporary songs with a dramatic ending with ‘Joy to the World.’”

The Living Christmas Tree will be comprised of 70 choir members and the entire production will include 160 people including a 29-piece orchestra.

“The Living Christmas Tree will have more than 10,000 lights and will be a spectacular setting for the production,” Eakes said.

The story of the Birth of Christ will be told in dramatic fashion with the major characters in the story played by Keith Sessions as Isaiah, Mimi Williams as Elizabeth, Bryan Yarbrough as Joseph and Whitney Yarbrough as Mary.

Soloist for “God’s Promise” will be Frank Williams, Wayson Carroll, Brooke Carroll, Cathy Childs and Diane Orlofsky.

“‘God’s Promise’ will be a very meaningful and inspiring worship service,” said Sylvia Dismukes. “Jean Eakes and Geoffrey Spann, director, left the choice of music in God’s hands and it is absolutely beautiful …. It is a wonderful experience and we invite everyone to join us for the special Christmas service.”
