Jingle Bell jog set for Saturday

The Lillian D. Green Nutrition Center in Troy will sponsor a 5K Jingle Bell Jog on Saturday on the square in downtown Troy.

Hassie Green, Center director, said 59 runners participated in last year’s run and that many or more are expected this year.

“The 5K Jingle Bell Jog benefits the seniors’ programs at the Lillian D. Green Nutrition Center and we are very appreciative of those who make this fundraiser a success,” Green said.

The registration fee is $10 for those who pre-register and $15 on the day of the run.

Registration forms are available at the Lillian D. Green Nutrition Center, 715 E. Elm Street in the lower level of the Colley Senior Complex.

Registration the day of the run will be at 8 a.m. at the Gazebo in downtown Troy. The Gazebo is the starting point of the Jingle Bell Jog that will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.

“Coach Bob Lambert at Troy University will be the official time keeper for the 5K Jingle Bell Jog,” Green said. “We will award trophies and medallions to the overall winner and age group winners in the male and female divisions. There will also be opportunities to win prizes through drawings.

All runners will receive an official Jingle Bell Jog tee shirt.

The Lillian D. Green provides meals, programs, activities and fellowship for the 46 participants who come to the center Monday through Friday.
