Spend your dollars locally this year

Depending on when you’re reading this, you’ve either already hit the Black Friday sales or are likely heading out soon.
And that’s OK.
Today marks what has traditionally become the busiest shopping day of the year.
And for retailers, that’s good news.
With nearly too-good-to-be-true prices on everything from camcorders to computers to toys to GPS systems and clothes, national retailers have crafted sales today to woe shoppers off the couch and to the stores.
And, locally, our merchants aren’t holding back. From drug stores to chain retailers to locally owned gift stores and speciality stores, shoppers can find most anything they need for Christmas gifts on sale in Pike County today.
More than that, shoppers can find hometown service; friendly smiles; and knowledgeable sales staff. Add to that the benefit of knowing that your tax dollars, charged on every purchase, are going back into the local economy and, well, it’s a win-win situation.
We realize that in today’s uncertain economic climate many among us are watching expenditures more closely. And, given that, we believe it’s even more important to make the most of each dollar spent. We believe that is best done by shopping locally, at home, where your purchases help support local businesses, local governments and local schools.
So go ahead, shop today.
And good luck on your bargain hunting.
