Daris Wilson and Courtney Brasell led the Charles Henderson Trojans to a 58-50 victory over defending Class 4A state champion Bullock County in the Enterprise High School Tournament Wednesday at Enterprise-Ozark Community College.

Wilson poured in a team-high 17 points to lead the Trojans in scoring. He added six assists and four rebounds. Brasell posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. He also had four blocked shots.

“PeeWee did a good job at the point today and we played in control a lot better than we did last night,” CHHS head coach Carl Hollis said. “Courtney was a force for us down low and he also scored some points down there.”

Hollis said the key to the victory for the Trojans (2-1) was teamwork and a strong defensive effort.

“We played much better defense and I was pleased with how our guys played.”

Hollis said Bullock County came out strong, but the Trojans handled the ball and reduced their turnovers in the victory.

“We cut down our turnovers and we shot a lot better from the free throw line in this game,” Hollis said. “We rebounded real strong.”

The Trojans pulled down 39 rebounds as a team and turned the ball over 15 times compared to the 23 times from Tuesday night’s contest.

Justin Davis dropped in 12 points and six rebounds. Jabari Brown had 12 points and Quez Hall grabbed four rebounds.

Hollis said his team is playing well for only the third game of the season.

“I was pleased with how well they came together as a team and played strong,” he said. “We now have time to work some things out and get better before next Friday.”

The Trojans host Jefferson Davis Friday instead of Saturday because of a conflict with Troy University’s final regular season football game. Tip off for the JV game is set for 4:30 p.m. in the Charles Henderson gym.
