The Edgewood Academy Wildcats won their first ever state championship Friday afternoon in Movie Gallery Stadium with a come-from-behind 19-12 victory over Lowndes Academy.

“We have been here three times in the last six years and I guess the third time is a charm,” Edgewood head coach Bobby Carr said. “I am awfully proud of our seniors. They showed a lot of leadership.”

In a game that barely had 400 yards of total offense, the Wildcats scored 12 points in the fourth quarter to best the Rebels.
