The state tournament Saturday experience was shortened for the 13U Troy tournament team, as their opening round opponent never showed up.

“We were all ready to play and we got out there, warmed up and (Anniston) never showed up,” Troy head coach Doug McLendon said. “That is a tough thing to deal with, but to their credit they played fantastic against Sylacauga.”

The Troy team faced Sylacauga later in the afternoon and dispatched of them easily, 8-0.

“We kept the pressure on them all game,” McLendon said. “We were subbing everyone in and out and everyone played their hearts out today.”

McLendon said forwards Austin Adler and Brantley LeCroy did an excellent job in passing and scoring all game.

“We had so much passing and many smart decisions out there,” McLendon said. “That was the key in our win.”

The Troy team will face Prattville at noon today and square off with Dothan at 3 p.m. in the round robin tournament.
