Troy adults ready for the five Ds

Beginning Oct. 21, the Troy area will be able to form teams and dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge at the Troy Parks and Recreation Center.

Pam Nix, the adult activities coordinator for Troy parks and rec, will open registration for adult dodgeball Tuesday. The 2004 comedy “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” was the true inspiration for Nix.

“I want to take all the adults back to the playground with this league,” Nix said. “This is for all the kids who got picked on or picked last in dodgeball. Now they are grown and they can have fun with it.”

Just like in the movie on the big screen, the Troy league will play by the National Dodgeball Federation rules. There will be a men’s league and a coed league.

“We are ready to rock and roll with this and we want people to come out and have some fun because this is a great place to play or do anything (at the rec center),” Nix said.

Registration will be held Oct. 21-29 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the rec center.

For more information about joining the league, contact Nix at 670-6070 or email her at pnix@troycable.net.
