Juvenile charged in grocery break-in

Troy Police arrested a 16-year-old boy Thursday for allegedly burglarizing the Piggly Wiggly on North Three Notch Street.

Around 12 a.m. Thursday, Troy Police received a call that an alarm had been activated at the grocery store, according to Police Chief Anthony Everage.

Upon arrival, officers noticed damage to the back door of the business and evidence there had been forcible entry into the store.

During a search of the building, officers saw the suspect running near the front of the store, seized him and took him into custody.

The suspect was taken to the Troy Police Short-term Juvenile Detention.

Authorities with the Pike County Juvenile Court assisted Troy Police in this case.

The incident remains under investigation by the police department.
