How easy can it be to help out?

For folks who want to help the Pike county Habitat for Humanity organization, it’s as simple as logging onto a Web site, reading a story and voting. That’s all.

The Wells Fargo Someday Stories contest, found at www.wellsfargo.com/somedaycontest, is awarding $250,000 to the winning charity. Three national organizations: Habitat, the Boys and Girls Club of America and Junior Achievement.

Each time a visitor reads a story and logs a vote, you have a chance to also vote for your favorite charity. If you vote for Habitat, there’s a chance that the Pike County chapter could be among the top three affiliates logging votes, the local chapter could share in the winnings.

Habitat International already has committed to share its winnings (and it’s guaranteed at least $50,000 if it finishes third) among the top three affiliates. Even if Habitat International finished third among the three beneficiaries, and the Pike County affiliate was third among the top affiliates voting, our local program could garner a $9,000 windfall.

And that’s the type of donation that can make a real and tangible difference in the ability to provide housing for needy families right here in our community.

So take a minute today, log on and vote. You have nothing to lose, and our Habitat folks have plenty to gain.
