While the football scene is upon us and I can’t wait to get out there and snap pictures and scribble notes about the Friday night lights action, there are other sports out there about to start their own practices and workouts.

Starting with Troy University, there will be games pretty much every weekend somewhere involving head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick and the Trojans volleyball squad. Those games should be interesting to watch, as Kirkpatrick has a solid group returning and some good young talent.

Troy University will also have first-year head coach Chris Bentley and the Trojans soccer team kicking into high gear next year. Troy media relations own Taylor Bryan blogged about the very topic of other sports than football kicking into high gear.

I think Taylor hit the nail right on the head. Yes football is king and it is awesome to watch and cover, but there are other sports out there. And they are also interesting to watch and cover.

I know I will see Taylor out at the soccer matches every time I head out there. It should be interesting to go out there and watch how the female fall sports at Troy go down.

And when it comes to high school, there is a volleyball team at every school in the area and I can’t wait to watch the Lady Trojans, Lady Bulldogs, Lady Eagles and Lady Patriots bump, set and spike their way through the competition.

Volleyball teams in the area should be ready to have their picture taken when I am out there and get ready for a great interview afterwards. I know what I will be doing Tuesdays and Thursdays and some Mondays this fall.

I will be out there to make sure the volleyball teams in the area get their fair shake of coverage. And for anyone who would like to call in scores and statistics from any of the matches you don’t see me at feel free to do so.

Any help this fall would be great. I can’t wait to cover all sports in the Troy area and good luck to every team out there.

This should be an interesting season of fun and games out there and I can’t wait to cover all the action and the state championships that come out of this area in all sports.
