Pike County Bulldogs name starters

BRUNDIDGE – Pike County has named its starting five for the Bulldogs’ basketball squad.
Jonta Carlton, Quay Bailey, George Wilson and Tevin Andrews are all sure starters, while Torrey Wilson and Carle Carilise are still battling for the final starting slot.
The Bulldogs looked stacked with talent, with seven seniors on the squad. Four juniors and only two sophomores complete the team.
The Bulldogs are getting a late start on the season after cancelling the first several games due to the school’s football team again going deep into the playoffs.
Pike County opens play on the road at Luverne on December 10th. Luverne has already begun their season and defeated Greenville 75-66.
The Bulldog basketball program has recently been in the passenger seat to the highly successful football program.
This year’s team will look to make Pike County a force to be reckoned with, not only on the football field, but on the basketball court as well.
he Bulldog’s basketball team will pursue a banner of their own to hang in the gymnasium, among all of the successful football banners.
The Bulldogs are led by first year coach Julius Young.
Young is no stranger to the game as he has been a junior varsity girls and boys coach at Pike County for the previous three years.
The Bulldogs finished last season with a 12-10 final record. There was no post-season play, but that undoubtedly is a high goal for this year’s team.
