The Troy men's basketball team has a preseason exhibition against West Alabama
Monday night at 7 p.m. at Trojan Arena.
The Trojans are warming up for their Nov. 9 season opener against the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
The Trojans are heading into a season that features 16 home games - the most in the past 26 years.
“There's just such a disparity when you play at home and when you play away,” Maestri said in a previous interview. “That's why a lot of teams don't want to come to your place to play.”
The schedule includes nine games against Sun Belt Conference foes and seven against a wide range of non-conference opponents.
“The schedule will have the most home games we have had since (David) Felix and I have been here,” Maestri said. “We'll start off with a tough road stretch, but then we'll hit a stretch with six of seven games at home. I am hoping that makes a difference for us in gaining confidence.”
The Trojans will open on November 5 with an exhibition game against in-state foe West Alabama. From there, five of the first six games will be on the road, with stops at Alabama (11/9), Utah Valley State (11/20), Georgia State (11/24), Ole Miss (11/27) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (12/1).
The regular season home opener is slated for Wednesday, Nov. 14, against Paul Quinn College.
The December schedule features four straight non-conference games at Trojan Arena, starting with Shorter College (12/4), Alabama State (12/8), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (12/15) and ending with Jacksonville (12/17).
