Goshen tops Zion Chapel

JACK - The Goshen High School Eagles closed their season in style Friday with a 59-13 win over the Zion Chapel High School Rebels.

The Rebels took the opening kick at their own 15-yard line.

The drive would be short lived, as Tyrese Wingard picked off a pass that set the Eagles up just 14 yards out of the Zion Chapel end zone.

Marty Anderson made those 14 yards melt away and crashed through the pylons with 10:22 left in the first quarter.

Wingard’s pass to Jaryd Gibson was good for the conversion and the Eagles had taken an 8-0 lead.

Three plays later the Rebels punted to Goshen again, this time at the Eagles 39 yard line.

Wingard erased those 39 yard with a strike to Justin Knight for another Goshen touchdown with 4:51 to go in the 1st quarter.

Wingard lobbed another pass to Anderson for the conversion to put the Eagles on top 16-0.

The Rebels stalled another drive and a wave of penalties put the Eagles up at midfield.

Wingard dropped back and launched a pass to Marcus Jackson who beat a hasty path 55 yards downfield and right into the end zone.

Another pass to Austin Bennett for the conversion put the Eagles up 24-0 to end the first quarter.

The Rebels took over again at their own 21 where Keyone Woods recovered a fumble for yet another Eagles offensive drive.

Marquez Maddox drove the squad down to the 1 yard line where Wingard held on to the ball and crossed the end zone line.

Another conversion pass to Bennett made the tally 32-0 in favor of the Eagles with just over eight minutes to play in the first half.

Another stalled Rebel drive put the Eagles in control at the Zion Chapel 22.

Maddox drove the team inside the five where Anderson Bowled into the endzone from three yards out.

Gibson split the uprights to give the Eagles a 39-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Eagles took over again after halftime and Anderson raced 36 yards for another touchdown anda commanding 45-0 lead.

The Rebels mounted somewhat of a positive drive, but foud themselves ground out again and the Eagles were back in control at the Zion Chapel 41.

Maddox found end zone real estate from 15 yards out and Gibson nailed another extra point for a 52 point lead with just over four minutes in the third.
