Cleo Lamb Thompson
Graveside services for Cleo Lamb Thompson, 75, of Tuscaloosa, who died June 7, 2007, in Atlanta, Ga., will be at 2 p.m. today at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Green County with the Rev. Bob Causey officiating and Sandy Springs Chapel, Sandy Springs, Ga., directing.
Mrs. Thompson lived in Troy for several years before moving to Atlanta. She was a volunteer at the Colley Senior Complex and the director of the Lillian D. Green Nutrition Center in Troy.
Mrs. Thompson was a charter member of the Merry Hearts Clown Troupe that brought joy and smiles to hundreds of people in and around Pike County.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Chris Melton Sr., Atlanta; Sandra and Danny Boutwell, Troy; son and daughter-in-law, John and Linda Thompson,Tampa, Fla., sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Bob Causey, Tuscaloosa; Doris and Randolph Broughton, Birmingham; sister-in-law, Sarah Lamb, Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Manley Davis, Christopher Davis, Jennifer Boutwell, Daniel Boutwell, Katherine Melton, Christopher Melton and Alexandra Melton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brain Tumor Foundation, the American Cancer Society or the Colley Senior Complex.
Bertha Mae Rushing Houston
Bertha Mae Rushing Houston, 90, of Troy, died at Troy Health and Rehab Friday, June 8, 2007.
Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home on Monday, June 11, 2007, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy on Monday, June 11, 2007, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Chad Teal officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
The pallbearers are James Jordan, Bobby Floyd, Stanley Kelly, Dennis Kelly, Russell Kelly and Gary Kelly.
The family requests that memorials be made to God's Way Baptist Church, 1100 Elba Highway, Troy, AL 36079.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Spivey of Troy; two grandchildren, Chris Spivey of Troy and Steve (Beverly) Spivey of Troy; and great-grandchildren, Crystal Spivey and Stephane Spivey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wade Houston.
Brian Gregory Wright
Brian Gregory Wright, 33, of Troy, died at his home Thursday, June 7, 2007. Visitation will be held at Northside Baptist Church on Sunday, June 10, 2007, from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at Northside Baptist Church on Sunday, June 10, 2007, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Burney Enzor and the Rev. Dale Norris officiating.
Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Wilson, Brandy Cox, Ron Atwell, Jeremy Oliver, Mac Golden and Doug Golden.
Honarary Pallbearers will be the employees of Benton Electric Company.
He is survived by wife, Shree Wright of Dothan; daughter, Brittany Cranford of Wicksburg; three sons, Brian G. Wright II of Troy, Brandon T. Wright of Wicksburg and Austin G. Wright of Dothan; parents, Tommy and Kathy Wright of Troy; brother, Thomas (Cindy) Wright of Troy; grandparents, Jeanette Faye Johnson of Troy and Addis and Florene Wilson of Troy; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lonnie Clayton Ellis
Services for Lonnie Clayton Ellis, 78, of Shady Grove Community-Brundidge, who died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at his home, will be at 3 p.m. today at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Brother Elmer Ellis, Brother Hollis Bradley and Brother Mickey Goodwin officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Ellis was born July 3, 1928, in Pike County. He was a retired carpenter and home builder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Ellis and Josie Flowers Ellis, and a brother, Tommy Ellis.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Lois Ellis of Brundidge; two sons and their wives, Jim and Myra Ellis and Tim and Rose Ellis of Brundidge; daughter and her husband, Crick and Chris Carter of Brundidge; grandchildren and their spouses, Tina and Tim Stafford of Ozark, Gina Ellis of Enterprise, Nina and Jim Kennedy of Enterprise, Ashley Ellis of Troy, Christi Bray of Ozark, Sandy and Michael Woodall of Ozark, Clay and Sandra Ellis of Newton, Cory Carter and Heather Carter both of Brundidge; 13 great-grandchildren; brother and his wife, Joe and Linda Ellis of Brundidge; sisters and their husbands, Nannie Ree Leatherwood of Brundidge, Loretta and Coley Allen of Montgomery and Jewell and Johnny Knighten of Brantley.
Pallbearers will be Kim Ellis, Mark Mobley, Derek Knighten, John Knighten, Steve Ellis and David Maulden.

Versie Lou Crawley
In the early hours of June 2, 2007, the angel of death came into her room at Pike Manor Nursing Home and ended the pain and suffering of our queen, Versie Lou Crawley.
Versie was born May 26, 1914, to the late Richmond and Kitty Reynolds in Pike County. She was the third out of seven children.
At the age of 15, Versie formed a union with Algie Lee “Buster” Crawley, who preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2007. She also was preceded in death by one son, Algie Lee Crawley of Barstow, Calif.
Versie was a hardworking, devoted wife and mother. She was a faithful worker and church member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memories five children, Willie James Crawley, Samuel David Crawley and Randolph Crawley, all of Troy, Annie Ruth Henry (Michael George Delroy) of Fairfax, Va., and John David Crawley (Earnestine) of San
Diego, Calif.; one brother, the Rev. Ben Frank Reynolds of Newark, N.J.; three sister-in-laws, Isophene Stewart, Patsy Reynolds and Louise Reynolds, all of Troy; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
