Loretta Maddox
Services for Loretta Maddox, 80, who died June 17, 2007 at her residence will be at 3:30 p.m. June 23, 2007, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. L. C. McMillian officiating.
Burial will be in Carroll Street Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home of Troy.
Mrs. Maddox was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Hamilton, Ohio. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Maddox
was a day care teacher, assistant adult Sunday school teacher, substitute teacher for Pike County, supervisor of Walnut Street Day Care, supervisor of Hubbard Street Daycare Center, teacher at Brundidge Day Care Center and a missionary worker of circle #5. She graduated from Mckeesport High School in Pennsylvania. After graduation she moved to Troy and attended Tuskegee University for two years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Whitehurst Brown Steele and William Brown Sr.; two children, William L. Maddox and Gomez C. Maddox.
Survivors include four daughters, Harriet and Ellison Williams of Mosspoint, Miss., Karla Maddox, of Detroit, Mich., and Anna E. Maddox and Jeannetta Upshaw of Troy; four sons, Hubert Maddox Jr. of Montgomery, Cecil and Shirley Maddox and Lionel Maddox, both of Troy, and Chris Maddox of Atmore; daughter-in-law, Lynda Maddox of Troy; two devoted cousins, Edalene Haynes of Houston, Texas, and Margaret Robinson of Troy; 28 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and close friends.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends of the family.
Floral bearers will be granddaughters, adult Sunday school class and friends of the family.
