Sarah Jane Bray

Funeral services for Sarah Jane Bray, who died April 5, 2007, will be at 1 p.m. today at First Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with the Rev. George Gilchrist Jr. officiating.

Burial will be at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Orion under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bray was born to the late Artie Hooten and the late Mattie McCullough Hooten on May 16, 1946, in Pike County.

She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Troy. She met and married George Bray.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Artie Hooten and Mattie McCullough Hooten; one sister, Annie Lois Hooten; and two brothers, Melvin L. Hooten, and Frank Hooten.

She is survived by her husband, George Bray of Troy; children, Lisa (Robert) Martin, Willie (Theresa) Bray, Sarah (Willie) Toney, Cornelia H. (Robert) Robertson, all of Troy, and Tyrone (Ruby) Henderson of Anderson, Ind.; grandchildren, Jasmine, Brittany, Tiesha, Kasheena, Jamel, Shaquandra, Quin, Robert, Tykeyah, Jamal, Josiah and Terrance; six sisters, Georgia (James) Calhoun, Pompano Beach, Fla., Nonnie McCullough, Mary (Ronald) Henderson, Roberta (Johnny) Pollard, all of Troy, and Tiller Mae Jones, Anderson, Ind.; three brothers, Willie L. Hooten of Troy, Milton Hooten of Luverne and Tommy L.

Hooten; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including her very devoted friends, Annie Jewel Coward, Priscilla Bean, Lois Carter and Annie Brantley.

Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.

Charles Lamar Johnson

Funeral services for Charles Lamar Johnson, 66, of Andalusia, who died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Troy Health and Rehabilitation Center, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel in Andalusia with burial in Judson Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6- 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson was retired military from the U.S. Army. He, along with several members of his family, served this country. Members of his family who served in the military included his father, William Thomas Johnson in World War I, and his brothers, William T. Johnson in World War II, Charles Johnson in Vietnam and Howard Johnson in Korea.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Johnson and Lena Pittman Johnson.

Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Appel of Ohio; a brother, Howard B. Johnson of Adairsville, Ga.; a sister, Dorothy Johnson Weitzel of Glencoe, Ark.; a grandson, Christopher Gray of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
