Mamie Lou Castleberry
Funeral services for Mamie Lou Castleberry, 83, of Troy, who died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Troy Regional Medical Center after a brief illness, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Brother Kurt Cobb officiating.
Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park with Dillard Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 tonight at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.
Mrs. Castleberry was a loving mother, special sister and a wonderful aunt. Her special talents were her special needs kids at Alabama School for the Blind. She was house mother to her loving boys ages 6-12 years old. She was especially loved by them for the 15 years she served. She also loved her fishing, and camping with her son, James. Everyone treasured her famous pound cakes that she would bake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arcus Helms; a son, John Herbert Castleberry; four brothers, Clarence Helms, Macon Helms, C.W. Helms and Danny Helms; and two sisters, Mavis Marler and Sherria Spivey.
She is survived by her son, James Robert Castleberry; two grandchildren, Miranda and Patricia Castleberry of Roseburg, Ore.; six sisters, Lovie Coskrey of Geneva, JoAnn Reddoch of Troy, Myrle Ball of Virginia, Linda and (Durl) Senn of New Brockton; Nell and (Wayne) Brasher of Bellwood and Amy Curenton of Florala; a brother, Moade and (Betty) Helms of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Alpheus E. &uot;Buddy&uot; Hobbs
Funeral services for Alpheus E. &uot;Buddy&uot; Hobbs, 69, of Troy, who died on Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Troy Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Rev. Bo Weed and the Rev. Don Grantham officiating.
Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery, with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Campbell and Lula Hobbs.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hobbs; son, Andy (Harriet) Hobbs of Prattville; daughters, Sharon (Dan) Green of Brandon, Fla., and Lisa (Ken) Stone of Stone Mountain, Ga.; grandchildren, Daniel and Sarah Green, Jake, Emma and Leslie Stone and Park Hobbs; brothers, Tommy (Caroline) Hobbs, William (Debbie) Hobbs and Grady (Judy) Hobbs; and a sister, Edna (Carlos) Faust.
Memorials may be made to the Southside Baptist Church Building Fund.
