Edwin M. Starling Sr.

Funeral liturgy and burial for Edwin M. Starling Sr., who died at his home in Concord, Calif., on Thursday, March 8, 2007, were Monday at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, Calif.

He was born on Nov. 1, 1921, in Troy to Jarel and Clare Starling. Starling served his country in the U.S. Army, retiring as a major in 1963 and continued working as a vice president of a leasing company for 22 years.

Mr. Starling was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Starling; son, Edwin M. Starling Jr.; daughter, Gwendolyn S. Plummer; and grandson Joshua Plummer.

Starling is survived by his brother, Sidney Starling (Mary) of Troy; sister, Clare McDonald of Texas; son, Malcolm J. (Star) Starling; daughter, Monica (Paul) Urch; son-in-law David (Louise) Plummer; grandchildren,

Brian, Christopher, Nicole, David and Whitney Plummer, Jason, Westley and Shaun Jackson, Danielle (Jason) Moran, Ryan Urch, Edwin Starling III (Ruby),

Jonathan and Andrew Starling; and great-grandchildren, Hudson, Skye, Sierra and Brianna.

Foye Elizabeth Shipman

Services for Foye Elizabeth Shipman, who died Saturday, March 10, 2007, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at County Line Missionary Baptist Church in Brundidge with the Rev. Carl L. Hollis officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Grubbs Funeral Home of Troy.

Mrs. Shipman was born May 13, 1920.

She joined County Line Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully as president of the Senior Choir, assistant superintendent of Sunday school, former president of the Ever Ready Club and a member of the Easter Star Lodge Anchor Chapter 213 until the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Yeal Shipman; her parents, Adam and Ada Freeman; two sisters and nine brothers.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Ewell and Lorine

Shipman Jr.; two daughters, Euler Jones of Brundidge and Hilda Mitchell of Montgomery; four grandsons and their wives, Maurice Jones, Senior Airman

Benjamin and Shakeyta

Jones of Shaw AFB, S.C., Alexander Shipman of Brundidge and Jermaine and Valerie Shipman of Springhill; granddaughter, Keila Shipman of Montgomery; three great-granddaughters, Laniera and Aaliyah Jones of Shaw AFB, S.C., and Kamryn Williams of Montgomery; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many faithful friends.

Pallbearers will be the Male Chorus. Flower bearers will be member of the choir.
