Troy's 12-and-under boys tournament team is preparing for the state tournament in Enterprise next weekend after winning the ARPA District 6 championship.
Troy defeated Opp in the district opener, advancing to the championship game against host Greenville last weekend. Troy earned a four-point victory that clinched a berth in the state tourney.
“All of our guys gave a good effort,” head coach Darius Carlisle said. “We played great the first game against Opp. We won 40-10 and that was very impressive. The second game against Greenville was a little tougher. We stayed ahead the whole game. We led by eight points in the third quarter before they came back. We kept our poise, though, and won 32-28.”
Carlisle said Brantley LeCroy led the team in scoring both games, scoring 9 points against Opp and 10 against Greenville. “He would have been our MVP at the District,” Carlisle said.
The coach said he is waiting for the brackets to see when and who Troy will be playing in the state tournament.
