Carrie Frances Jones Carroll

Funeral arrangements for Carrie Frances Jones Carroll, 90, who died at her home in Phenix City after an extended illness on March 1, 2007 will be announced later by Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.

Mrs. Carroll was born Oc. 21, 1916 and was a native of Pike County. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was an expert seamstress and gardener who enjoyed singing with the Pike County Singing Convention.

Having lived the majority of their 55 years of marriage together on their farm in Banks, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll had moved to Phenix City in 1991 to be near their daughter.

Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her husband, Tillman F. Carroll (1912-1993); parents, Enice McLure Jones and Virdree Jones Sr., and five brothers, Huey Jones, Max Jones, Wayne Jones, Bryant Jones and Carl Jones.

She is survived by one brother, Virdree Jones of Troy; two children, Janice Johnson (Jack) of Phenix City and Jones Carroll (Linda) of Troy; four grandsons, Grant Johnson (Joelyn) of Dothan, Cary Johnson (Melanie) of Phenix City, Wason Carroll (Marilyn) of Troy and Nathan Carroll (Heather) of Elba; great-grandchildren, Evan and Ian Johnson of Dothan, Jack, Marybeth and William Johnson of Phenix City, Caleb and Brooke Carroll of Troy and Evelyn Kate Carroll of Elba; sister-in-law, Ruby Fedrick; and several nieces and nephews.

Algie Lee Crawley

Funeral services for Algie Lee Crawley will be held at 11 a.m. today at Elizabeth Baptist Church in the Aberfoil Community with the Rev. Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at the Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery in Bullock County with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home handling final arrangements.

Algie Lee Crawley was born on May 1, 1906, in Bullock County to the late Elknia and Ada Crawley. He was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church in the Aberfoil Community.

He is survived by nine children, Willie James Crawley, Randolph Crawley and Samuel Crawley, all of Troy, Annie Ruth (Micheal) Henry of Fairfax, Va., Peggy Daniels of Sugar Hill, Ga., David Crawley (Earnestine) of San Diego, Calif., Dorotha Stringer of Tucker, Ga., and Jeffery Johnson (Sekeio) of Lemoore, Calif.;

He was preceded in death by a sister, Isophene Stewart; a devoted friend, Annie Bell Anderson; and a special daughter, Pearl Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be family and friends; flower bearers will be nieces and friends of the family.

Hoover Simmons

Funeral Services for Hoover Simmons will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Goshen with the Rev. Jeffery McCauley, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be at the Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home handling final arrangements.

Hoover Simmons born June 14, 1930, to the late Algie and Lillie Simmons. Simmons was one of nine children. He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother, his wife, Alice Simmons, and one daughter.

He is survived by four sisters, Delma Saulsberry, Mammie (Melvin) Peterson and Lucy Simmons, all of Troy, and Lovie Mae Dubose of Long Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Homer (Marie) Simmons of Troy and Walter James (Lula Mae) Simmons of Dade City, Fla.; one aunt, Inez Simmons of Parrish, Calif.; a special nephew, Willie Frank Collins; three special nieces, Carolyn Jackson, Michele Simmons and Lucille Dubose; two close friends, Willie Bell of Los Angeles and Albert Bell of Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers and flower bearers will be friends of the family.

Noah Black

Noah Black, 88, of Brundidge, died at Troy Regional Medical Center Wednesday, February 28, 2007. Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge on Saturday, March 3, 2007 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Brundidge on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Mack King officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Black, Eddie Black, Bill Caldwell, Arthur Ben Massey, Donnie Mobley, and Oscar Kyle McDowell. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Grace Black of Brundidge, 3 sons, Noah Gene Black of Brundidge, Gary (Brenda) Black of Brundidge, and Randy (Marie) Black of Ariton, grandchildren, Will, Genie, and Jeb Black, Jason (Stacie) Black, Shelley (James) Monsees, Gary Anthony Black, Tammy (Casey) Prestwood, and Randi Lynn Black, 8 great grandchildren, brother, Cliff (Virginia) Black of Brundidge, sister-in-law, Ben Griswold of New Brockton. He was preceded in death by brothers, J.K. Black, Douglas Black, and Henry Black
