R. L. Carlisle
Services for R.L. Carlisle, who died on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at Troy Regional Medical Center, were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Beulah Hill Baptist Church in Banks with the Rev. Henry Reynolds officiating.
Burial was at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Banks with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Carlisle was born Jan. 11, 1953, in Troy to the late J.D. Copeland and the late Mary Carlisle. He attended Pike County High School in Brundidge and later attended trade school in Tuskegee. He was a member of Beulah Hill Baptist Church, where he served as president of the usher board.
He was married to Berlinda Allen and the couple had three children.
His parents, J.D. Copeland and Mary Carlisle, and one son, Dexter Bell, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Berlinda Carlisle of Troy; one daughter, Givendolyn Thomas of Troy; two sons, Darris Carlisle and Carlos
Carlisle (Katrina Kimble), both of Troy; eight grandchildren; one brother, John D. Starks of Troy; three sisters, Ada (Willie) Brown, Debra Stewart and Angela Stewart, all of Troy; two uncles, Jimmy (Mary) Carlisle and Boot Copeland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including two devoted friends, Marcellar Tolver and Herbie Frazier.
Pallbearers and flower bearers were friends of the family.
Eugene F. Hattaway
Services for Eugene F. Hattaway, 85, of Brundidge, who died at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, will be at 2 p.m. today at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Brundidge.
The Rev. Mack King and the Rev. Sammy Turner will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Banks.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. today and also was held Tuesday night at the funeral home.
His wife, Louise Hattaway; a granddaughter, Stacey Hattaway; his parents, Morris and Lizzie Hattaway; a sister, Bertha Jones; and a brother, Herman Hattaway, preceded Mr. Hattaway in death.
Mr. Hattaway is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Faye Hattaway of Banks; a daughter and son-in-law Jaunita and Vincent Ziglar of Elba; grandsons Randall Hattaway of Banks and Mike Ziglar of Elba; great-granddaughters Carmen (Wes) Hamm of Troy and Kayla Ziglar of Troy; a sister, Mattie Mae Jones of Columbus, Ga.; and a sister-in-law, Doris Slaughter of Troy.
Pallbearers are Freddie, Sammy, Jim and Mickey Daughtry, Charles Senn, and Edward Medley. Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons, Randall Hattaway and Mike Ziglar.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
Alfredia McClain Merritt
Services for Alfredia McClain Merritt, 59, of Luverne who died Oct. 23, 2006 will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 1, 2006 at Macedonia CME Church with Rev. Douglas D. Perry officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home of Troy.
Visitation was from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Merritt was born Sept. 22, 1947 in Pike County. She was retired from the Pike County Board of Education after 25 years and was a member of Macedonia CME Church, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, James Lester Merritt of Luverne; 2 children, Jamie Merritt of Fort Hood, Texas and Jennifer Merritt of Luverne; grandchild, Jamel Merritt of San Antonio, Texas; four sisters and their husbands, Marlene and Ralph McKee of Pensacola, Florida, Gwendolyn and Foster Williams and Shelia McClain both of Shreveport, Louisiana and Gloria
and Robert Anderson of Saginaw, Michigan; three brothers and their wives, Larry and Brenda McClain, Jerry McClain and Anthony and Teresa McClain all o f
Shady Grove and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, niece, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be the nephews and cousins.
Floral bearers will be the nieces and cousins.
