Helen Fuller

Services for Ms. Helen Fuller were held at Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Goshen, Alabama on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at 12:00 noon with Rev. T. C. Johnson officiating.

Burial was under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home at Old Mt. Zion Cemetery.

She was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cephus and Mary Caroline Fuller in Pike County, Alabama, where she attended public school and joined the Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Like many others, she moved north seeking a better life.

First to New York, and later to Chicago, where she lived for more then forty years.

She was joined in marriage to the late Mr. Anthony Arnold on June 5, 1960.

In 2003, she retired from the Chicago Board of Education.

She moved to Minneapolis in August 2005 to be with her daughters.

The branches of her life lives in her four children: T.C. (Essie) Johnson of Huntsville, AL; Raginitta and Theresa Arnold of Minneapolis, MN; and Tasha D. Fuller of Robbinsdale, MN.

Her ten grandchildren are the blossoms of her tree; Reggie, Pierre, Keane, Romelle, Tramayne, Mahogany, Deziyia, Azania, Pashaun, and Drake.

Her tree has also flowered with three great grandchildren; Isaiah, Mekiel and Micah.

She was the fifth of eight children, four of whom she joined in Glory on September 13, 2006; Evin, Major, Vera Mae and Annie Laura.

She leaves three loving sisters to cherish her memories; Geraldene (Burley) Manson and Mary Louise Barnes of Warren, Ohion, and Annie Very McBride of Detroit, MI.

She has a very special and loving bond with her nieces, nephews, and friends.

She had many special relationship that she treasured and she had very strong ties with Wali, Shirley, and Vicki.

A few of her very special friends were Ms. Ellis, Bertha Rias, Mr. Townsend, Mr. Enriquez, and Ms. Hudson.

Josephine Wheat Austin

Mrs. Josephine Wheat Austin, 62, born April 9, 1944 in Gordo, Alabama, died Friday, September 22, 2006. Mrs. Austin was a long time resident of Mobile County, Alabama. Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 26, 2006

from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery, in Troy. In lieu of flowers, any donations should be made in her memory to Union Hill Cemetery Fund, 2727 County Road 7755, Troy, Alabama 36079. She was preceded in death by her mother, Wilma S. Wheat of Monroeville, Alabama. She is survived by her husband, Hubert Turner Austin of Coden, Alabama; two daughters, Lucinda &uot;Cindy&uot; Austin (Robert) Hines of Mobile, Alabama and Carol Austin (Brian) Bowden of Jacksonville, Alabama; three grandchildren, Anthony Turner Bowden and Sarah Regina Courtney Bowden of Jacksonville, Alabama, and Ashley Mac Hines of Mobile, Alabama; one sister, Christine W. Hicks of Mobile, Alabama; one brother, Lloyd Wheat of Searcy, Arkansas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Julia (Richard) Allen of Valley, Nevada, Emma Jewel Bassof Troy, Alabama, Carlos Botts of Troy, Alabama, Sharon Hinson of Selma, Alabama, Patricia Neal of Columbiana, Alabama, Virginia (Rowland) Olson of Alexandria, Minnesota, Carolyn Ryder of Springs Valley, Arizona; one uncle, six aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Lonnie V. &#8220Bud” Leverette

Lonnie V. &#8220Bud” Leverette, 83, of Luverne died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at Crenshaw Community Hospital in Luverne.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Rev. William Leverett officiating.

Burial will follow at Henderson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy.

Leverette was born on July 17, 1923, in Pike County. He was a painter in the construction industry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Manning Leverett and Callie Ida Miller Leverett.

Survivors include: his wife Elizabeth Leverette, Luverne;

sister, Hazel Lee, Montgomery; four daughters, Gayle Rodgers, New Brockton; Cindy Leddon Dothan, Joann Holley, Luverne; and Brenda Wood, Bristol, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two beloved sisters-in-law, Ruby Leverett, Henderson and Gladys Leverett, Troy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Leverett, Larry Leverett, Johnny Leverett, Jake Dominach, Jimmy Connell and James Kendrick.
