Myrtle Beasley Crumpler

Myrtle Beasley Crumpler died June 1, 2006 at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, Florida.

She had lived for 92 years. Myrtle grew up outside Ariton, Alabama, the 8th child of now deceased Bob and Drucilla Beasley.

Myrtle was married to Hershel Crumpler of Troy, Alabama until his death in 1978. She is survived by her three children, Gayle Siedow (John) of Shalimar, Florida, Garth Crumpler (Caroline) of Troy and Denny Crumpler (Virginia) of Lake Harding; grandchildren, Greg Siedow of Shalimar, Susan Siedow of Lotz of Pensacola, Florida, Kimberly Crumpler May of Lake Harding, Peggy Crumpler Jessup of Bonaire, Georgia, Michael Crumpler of Vidalia, Georgia and Andy Crumpler of Troy as well as eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Crumpler and son, Bobby.

In addition to being a wife and devoted mother, she had a 33 year career as a nurse at Edge Memorial Hospital in Troy and served as Dr. O.N. Edge's personal nurse until his death.

After retirement, she lived in Troy until 1986 when health concerns required her to move to near her daughter in Shalimar.

She quickly made many friends and was adopted by several as their &uot;Granny&uot;. Myrtle's departure creates a profound sense of loss for those who knew her. She will always occupy a place in the hearts of family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June16 at 12 p.m. at the Universal Cemetery on Highway 51 South in Ariton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the West Point, Georgia Presbyterian Church.

Gertha J. Sellers

Mrs. Gertha Johns Johnston Sellers of Enterprise, AL passed away peacefully in her sleep June 13, 2006 in Enterprise.

She was 90. Graveside services will be 4 pm Wednesday, June 14 from Meadowlawn Memorial Park in Enterprise with Rev. Fox Fleming officiating and Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home Directing.

The family will be at the home of her son, Bill Sellers, at 106 Stillwater Dr. in Enterprise.

Mrs. Sellers was born July 5, 1915, the 7th of 9 children, in Three Notch, AL to Joseph A. Johnston and Gertha Laura Johns Johnston.

She was raised in Troy, AL, was a member of the Baptist Church and joined the First United Methodist Church in Enterprise in 1948 when she and her husband, William Travis Sellers, moved from Panama City.

She was a member of the Edna Guice Sunday School Class until she became unable to attend.

She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, William Travis Sellers, and daughter, Susan Sellers O'Gwynn, as well as 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Roylene Sellers of Enterprise; son-in-law, David O'Gwynn of Enterprise; 6 grandchildren, Kelly McArdle, Allen O'Gwynn, Beth Sellers, Bubba Sellers, Sherri Smith and Shawn Kennett; 3 great-grandchildren, John Thomas McArdle, James Dylan Kennett and Austin Kennett Smith; numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward Dalton Jordan

Services for Edward Dalton Jordan, 71, of Troy who died Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at Troy Health and Rehab will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. Wayne Locklar officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. (1 hour prior to the service).

Mr. Jordan was born September 30, 1934 in Pike County He was a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Jordan and Lottie Pike Jordan.

Survivors include his sisters, Sue Barnette of Troy, Louise Dansby of Troy and Betty Green of Louisville and several nieces, nephews and a special friend, Alvin Stinson.
