Hilary Wayne Lee

Hilary Wayne Lee, 65, of Troy, died at Troy Regional Medical Center, Sunday, April 30, 2006. Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 11:00 AM with George Conner officiating. Burial will be at Elizabeth Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in McKenzie, Alabama on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 2:00 PM. The family request that memorials be made to Lighthouse Hospice. He is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Liz Conner of Dallas, Texas and Frances and Hubert Conner of Troy, six nephews, Jerry Don (Trish) Conner of Texas, Larry Joe (Doranda) Conner of Texas, Gary Lee (Debbie) Conner of Illinois, George (Kris) Conner of Montgomery, Lloyd (Melinda) Conner of Troy, and Robert (Beth) Conner of Arkansas, niece, Ellen (Glen) Davis of Birmingham, several great nieces and nephews, aunt, Rochelle Green of Gulf Shores. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilary and Venaro Lee and a brother-in-law, Donald Conner.

Thomas W. Finlay Jr., age 78 of Troy died Saturday. April 29, 2006, in Montgomery. Funeral services were held on Monday, May, 1, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. from the Green Hills Chapel Mausoleum with Reverend Terry Hester and Reverend Eddie Mitchell officiating. Entombment was in the Mausoleum.

Visitation was held Monday, May 1, 2006 from 12:00 until 1:30 at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Survivors include:

Wife, Mary R. Finlay of Troy,

Daughter and Son-in-law, Virginia Finlay and Robert C. Pettus of Montgomery,

Son, Thomas W. Finlay III of Troy, Grandchildren,

Jennifer Pettus of Marietta, Ga., Chris (Austin) Mann of Marietta, Ga., Great Grandchildren, Finlay and Grace Mann of Marietta, Ga., Several nieces and nephews .

Mr. Finlay was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosalie Sikes of Panama City , Fl. And Frances Kyzar Shirley of Troy. Pallbearers were Curtis Blair, Alan Horn, Don Avant, Gerald Dunn, and Dwayne Chancellor.

Honoray pallbearers were, Bob Green, Roy Dunn, Russell Thomas, Bobby Floyd, E.C. Oswald, Frank Rushing, and John King.

Downer Pace Head

Downer Pace Head, Age 89 of Troy died Saturday, April 29, 2006 at his home.

Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of Dillard Funeral home in Troy with Reverend Alan McBryde officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by Charlies Angels. Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing.

Son and Daughter-in-law, William Pace and Randee Lynn Head of Warner Robbins, Georgia, Daughter, M. Patricia Head of Orlando, Fl.

Grandchildren, Mathew Brian Head and Evan Zachary Head, Aunt Margaret Pace Farmer of Troy, Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law, Grace and Howard Guilford of Shady Grove, Serving as Pallbearers will be, Mathew Brian Head, Evan Zachary Head, Kirk Mckinnon, E.C. Oswald, Leon Dykes, and Lamar Berry.

Madeline Burks Cuthbertson

Madeline Burks Cuthbertson, 85, of Austin, Texas, died Saturday, April 29 at Buckner Villas, a Baptist-run home for Alzheimer's patients, in Austin.

Mrs. Cuthbertson was born November 27, 1920, in Troy, AL. She was the daughter of the late Clifford and Clyde Burks of Troy, AL.

She graduated from Troy State Teachers College and in 1971 represented Troy State University at Texas A&M University President's Inauguration.

Mrs. Cuthbertson received her MA degree from the University of Iowa and teaching became the core and love of her life.

She taught mathematics in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Nebraska and Texas, retiring in 1981.

While teaching at the University of Iowa she became a member of Pi Lambda Theta- a teaching sorority and served as its president.

She was also, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a national teaching/education organization and a member of Mensa, a national organization for people with high IQ's.

Mrs. Cuthbertson was a member of the United Methodist Church and volunteered in many capacities through the years.

She received recognition for 1000+ volunteer hours at M.D. Anderson American Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

In 1943, she joined the Navy as a Wave.

She was chosen in the top 10 of her Navy Air Navigation Class to fly as a technical observer during WWII, becoming one of the first women in the United States to navigate.

She also served as Transportation Personnel Officer and was honorably discharged from active duty at Alameda, CA, in 1947.

In 1950-51 she was appointed to Naval Reserve as Lieutenant JG.

She lived out the last few years of her life in Austin to be near her family.

Survivors include, 2 sons, Brian Cuthbertson and wife Karen Sholtz and Wayne Cuthbertson and wife, Pat. 2 grandchildren, Evan and Dave Cuthbertson, all of Austin, Texas.

A sister, Marilyn Burks Phillips, of Troy, AL, and a niece, Marcia Phillips Gorman of LaGrange, GA.

Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Thursday, May 4, 2006 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

The funeral service will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy of Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Bob Sandifer officiating.

Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.

Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to either the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Foundation in memory of Mrs. Cuthbertson.

William Harold Fleming

Mr. William Harold Fleming age 82 of Brundidge died Saturday, April 29, 2006 in Montgomery.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge, With Reverend Averyt Walker and Reverend Chuck Francisco officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing. Visitation will be held Monday, May 1, 2006 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.

He is survived by his Wife of 58 years Loretta Fleming of Brundidge. Two Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Jean Fleming (Jackie) Senn of Troy and Linda Fleming (Don) Wambles of Troy.

Grandchildren:

Heather Senn (Rodney) Cobb, Ashley Wambles (Steven) Kilcrease, Jason (Shenee) Senn, Josh (Kristy) Wambles.

Great-Grandchildren: Carter Caitlyn Senn, Anna Laura Cobb, Caroline Fleming Senn, Jackson Senn and Bryce Cobb. 1st Cousin Jane Leverett Senn.

He Was Preceded in Death by his Parents Weeks and Annie Fleming, 2 Brothers Merton and Rueben Fleming and a Sister Mary Fleming Trotter.

In Lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to the Shiloh Cemetery Fund.

Pallbearers will be Steve Thrash, Jerry Barbaree, Marty Barbaree, Joe Parks, James Fleming, and Paul Fleming.
