William I. Armstrong

William I. Armstrong, 81, of Brundidge, died at his home, Monday, March 6, 2006. Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Brundidge on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at

2:00 PM with Reverend Bobby Hood officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, in Brundidge. The family request that memorials be made to Salem Baptist Church, 217 South Main Street, Brundidge, Alabama

(Ralph) Thames of Montgomery, Grandchildren, Tim Berryhill, Trent Thames, Tyler Thames, Reese Armstrong, RaLiegh Wrts, Ramsey Kukes, and Strother Kukes, 2 Great grandchildren, Joseph Barron Berryhill, and John Robert Berryhill, Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Armstrong and daughter, Dinah Kukes

James Francis &uot;Frank&uot; Mathews

Mr. James Francis &uot;Frank&uot; Mathews age 82 was killed Saturday, March 4, 2006 in a one-vehicle accident on Elm Street Road in Pike County. A Life-long resident of Banks Alabama, he was born July 14, 1923 and was a son of the late Clarence S. and MaeBelle (Mott) Mathews, also of banks.

He was a World War Two veteran having served in the Army Air Force with the First Fighter Group in North Africa and in Foggia, Italy. Mr. Mathews was a sheet metal worker during his time in the service.

He Was a Deacon and active member of Banks Baptist Church for many years. He also enjoyed many years as a member of the WSFA-TV Storm team, sending in the Banks weather and rainfall amount for quite a number of years.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 6, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Banks Baptist Church with the Reverends W.O. Sanders and Donnie Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in the Banks Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge Directing.

Visitation will be held at the Church one hour prior to the Service.

He is survived by his wife of more than 59 years, Doris (Barefoot) Mathews, one daughter and Son-in-law, Diane and John P. Johnston of Brundidge, two granddaughters Rebecca (Marc) Woodham of Brundidge and Rachel (Henry) Everett of Troy as well as two great grandsons, Thomas J. Woodham and Malachi Everett.

He is also survived by a sister, Hannah Bates of Montgomery, a niece, Angie Trousdale and Five Nephews Ken, David, and Kevin Alford and Carey and Kim Barefoot.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great grandson William Patrick Woodham.

Memorials May be made to the Banks Baptist Church.

Edna Brooks Ward

Edna Brooks Ward, 84, of Union Springs, Almeria Community, died Saturday, March 4, 2006. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at 2 p.m. from Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Stan Pritchett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Gray Funeral Home directing.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane Rotton of the Almeria Community and Marilyn Catrett of Troy; five sons,Jim Ward of Titusville, Florida, Tommy Ward of Montgomery, Jerry Ward of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Wayne Ward of the Almeria Community and Mike Ward of Oglethorpe, Georgia; one sister, Jean Hickman of Union Springs and one brother, Tom Brooks of Brundidge.

Pallbearers are Marty Rotton, Steven Ward, Jason Ward, Lonnie Ward, Allen Ward and Jared Ward.

Visitation was held Monday, March 6, 2006 from 6 until 8 at Gray Funeral Home

Dorothy Sneed Jones

Dorothy Sneed Jones, 75, of Troy, died March 1, 1006 at Troy Health and Rehabilitation.

Services will be March 7, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Chatmon officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home.

She was born July 31, 1930 in Pike County to the late Fred Sneed and Marie Russell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Tom Jones and two children, Gloria Bean and Donnie Davis.

She is survived by three sons, Johnny (Rita) Davis of Lawton, Okla., J.T. (Janice) Jones and Kenneth Jones of Troy; four daughters, Berlinda Woods and JoAnn Scott of Troy and Debbie (David) Brown and Donnie Sneed of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Mildred Sneed of Flint, Mich., and Lenna Sneed of Brooklyn, N.Y.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers and floral bearers will be friends of the family.
