Vurnia Delois Grimes

Vernia Delois Grimes, age 70, born October 23, 1935 in Brinson, Georgia and died March 15, 2006 at Baptist Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Liza and Henry Yawn of Brinson, Georgia. She was a resident of 8119 Sorrell Lane, Montgomery, Alabama for 45 years. She retired in 1989 from Woolco and Zayre's Department Store. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery. She leaves her husband of 53 years, J. C. Grimes; 5 children and their spouses, Diane and Hank LaFountaine of Troy, Roger D. Grimes of Montgomery, James Harold and Gloria Grimes of New Site, Vicky and Bill Mitchell of Montgomery and Jeannie and Steve Dowling of Montgomery; 13 grandchildren, Jeramy and Andrea Nichols, Roger Dale, Jr. and Susan Grimes, Stephen, Robin and Rita Grimes, Jayson and Angela Barr, Allison Barr, Stephanie Dowling and James Crane; 12 great-grandchildren, Jaslyn and Jacob Nichols, Kristy and Christopher Grimes, Destiny and Jasmine Barr, Cassidie Grimes, Emily and Kaley Crane and Austin, Savannah and Sahara Wood. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
