J.D. Carter
J.D. Carter, 80, of Troy, died at Troy Regional Medical Center, Monday, January 30, 2006. Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at Union Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 3:30 PM with Dr. Malone Chandler officiating. The family request that memorials be made to Riverview Baptist Church. He is survived by Daughters, Dalmer Jean Everette of South Carolina, Deloris Hill of South Carolina, Patricia Conture of Georgia, and Christine Burba of Kentucky, Sons, Danny (Becky) Carter of Georgia, and Marty Carter of Georgia, 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great grandchildren, 5 Sisters, Margaret Bouchet of South Carolina, Lucille Andress of Troy, Helen Smith of Georgia, Shirley Mayberry of Georgia, and Gracie (Ronald) Wright of Georgia, 2 Brothers, Floyd (Dorothy) Carter of SouthCarolina, and David Carter of Florida, Special friend, Sandra Martin.
Lenora Avant Cox
Lenora Avant Cox, 91, of Brundidge, died at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. There will be a one hour lie-in-state prior to the service at the church. The funeral service will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Thursday, February
2, 2006 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Mack King, Reverend Mark Stephens and Reverend Don Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family request that memorials be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund C/O H.L. Taylor. She is survived by Daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Allridge Slaughter of Goshen, Grandson, Al Slaughter of Troy, 2 Sisters-in-law, Maulene Avant of Brundidge, and Mary Mae Helms of Montgomery, Nephews and their wives, Murry and Ruth Avant of Dothan, Don and Martha Avant of Troy, and Jackie Avant of Dothan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Cox and two granddaughters, Linda Carol and Melanie Ann Slaughter.
Mr. Eugene Hamrick
Mr. Eugene Hamrick, 80, of Troy died Monday, January 30, 2006 at Troy Health and Rehab in Troy. Mr. Hamrick was born on April 1, 1925 in Houston County. Eugene was a Retired Pharmacist who still worked part time at Price Pharmacy in Brundidge, He was also a member of Bush Memorial Baptist Church in Troy. Mr. Hamrick served in WW II in the U. S. Navy where he fought in Iwo Jima with the 4th Marine Division.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Landon and Vera M. Yelverton Hamrick and a brother, Walter Hamrick.
He is survived by a son and his wife, Bill and Gail Hamrick of Montgomery; 3 daughters and husbands; Sheila and Richard Pavlovec of Rockford, Cheryl and Knud Nielsen of Evergreen and Becky Ivey of Fairhope; sister, Irene Harding of Brownsville, Texas; grandchildren, Russell and Andrew Austin, Paul and Will Nielsen, Hayden and Hunter Hamrick and Chris Ivey and several nephews and their families.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Ashford City Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service Wednesday in the Chapel of Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home of Ashford. Officiating will be Rev. Otis Derrah. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Bush Memorial Baptist Church in Troy.
Mrs. Annie Merle Kelly
Mrs. Annie Merle Kelly, 70, of Andalusia died Monday, January 30, 2006 at her residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Greg Cotter officiating and burial in Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Foreman Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband Raymond Kelly of Andalusia; her daughter and son-in-law Debra and Dykes Baxley of Opp; her son and daughter-in-law Steve and Sherry Kelly of Montgomery; her grandchildren Dawn, Derrell, Derick and Stacy; her great grandchildren Josh, Andrew, Erin, and Katlin; her sisters Mary (Bill) Turner of Banks, Frances (Grady) Ward of Montgomery and Jill Jordon of Banks; her brothers Shelby (Shirley) Anderson of Banks and Dewitt Dawkins of Dothan; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her father, mother and a sister.
