George Saunders of Troy, died Saturday, august 27, 2005 at his home. Funeral arrangements and survivors will be announced later by Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Lucy Kate Whitehead

Lucy Kate Whitehead, 78, of Eufaula died Friday, August 26, 2005 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. The funeral will be held Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 3 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Eufaula with the Rev. Wally Halfinstine and the Rev. Carlos Toole officiating. Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery in Eufaula with Chapman Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Whitehead was born April 18, 1927 in Bakerhill. She was the daughter of John and Carrie Purswell Belcher. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Eufaula where she taught Sunday school for 50 years and was an avid reader and gardener.

Survivors include her husband, J. L. Whitehead of Eufaula; two daughters and their husbands, Karen and Frank Barefield and Ellen and Alan Horn both of Eufaula; one son and his wife, Glenn and Susan Whitehead of Eufaula; four grandchildren, Jason Smith of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Carrie Perkins, Lindsey Whitehead and Lauren Whitehead all of Eufaula; six great-grandchildren, Madison and Colby Perkins of Eufaula, Nic, Zach, Christopher and Destiny Smith of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
