Evelyn Howard Folmar
Evelyn Howard Folmar of Goshen, 96, died away Monday, June 13, 2005, at Luverne Nursing Facility.
Funeral services will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W.O. Sanders and the Rev. David Zorn officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be deacons of the Goshen Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Goshen Baptist Church.
Mrs. Folmar was a lifetime resident of Goshen and was educated in the school in Goshen and graduated with a B.S. Degree in elementary education from Troy State Teacher's College and taught school in Covington, Crenshaw and Pike counties for 36 years. An active member in the Goshen Baptist Church she served as treasurer, principal of vacation bible school, Sunday school teacher and WMU Director for many years. She was a previous member of several professional organizations including, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Captain Thomas Carter, Sr. Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists and the Oliver Wiley Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and held leadership positions in all of them. After retiring from teaching she was a volunteer at Edge Memorial Hospital for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, of 64 years, Max Folmar, her parents, Martha Amanda Richburg and Griffin Buchanan Howard, brother, Charles (Letha) Howard, W.Edward (Lucy) Howard, H. Roscoe (Mattie) Howard, Griffin B. (Lola) Howard, Jr. and sisters, Bertha H. (Sam) Gibson, Grace H. (Lochran Connor) Nixon, Lucy H. (Grady) Wilson, Kathleen H. (Clifford) Lawson.
Mrs. Folmar is survived by many nieces and nephews, Joyce H. Stallings, Orlando, Florida, Gertrude H. (Henry) Baker, Auburn, Alabama, Griffin B. (Joan Wells) Howard, III, Dallas, Texas, Edwin (Dorothy) Howard, Murphreesboro, Tennessee, Ralph (Caroline) Howard, Roswell, Georgia, Mildred N. Mallette, Goshen, Alabama, John Howard (Mary) Nixon, Birmingham, Alabama, Martha Jean Hayford, Pensacola, Fla., Ann L. (Ray) Hollub, Northport, Alabama, Tom (Kerry) Lawson, Birmingham, Lucy F. Sanders, Goshen, Hazel F. Kieffer, Laurie and Betty Folmar, Jewel and Phil Limbacher, Clarine J. Folmar all of Texas, Sara Worth S. Huffman, Montgomery Ronald and Della Seymour, Goshen, and number of great nieces and nephews and friends.
Martha Williford Blackburn
Martha Williford Blackburn, 70, of Dothan died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Flowers Hospital.
Services will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at noon from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Mobile with the Rev. Alvin Sullivan officiating.
Burial will be at Brannan Cemetery in Citronelle.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
She was born in Troy and graduated from Troy High School in 1952. She worked for 15 years in Mobile for Bell South as a telephone operator and then for 14 years with Dog River Marina. She moved to Dothan after retiring in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison Blackburn Sr.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Sandra and Doug Kincaid of Hanover, Penn., Sabrena Blackburn of Dothan and Selena and Michael Beard of Troy; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Thurman Bowles of Fairhope; a brother and sister-in-law, Glyn and Mavis McCall of Jacksonville, Fla.; her grandchildren, Morgan and Aubrey Kincaid, Daniel Flowers, Christian Beard and Brittany Beard; step-children, Mary Elizabeth Leousis of Semmes, Billy and Becky Blackburn of Semmes and Sue and Gene Brown of Citronelle and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Frances Kyzar Shirley
Frances Kyzar Shirley, a resident of Dothan, formerly of Troy passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. She was 95 years of age. Born Aug. 25, 1909, in Pike County.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Shirley will be Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy, with the Revs. Andy Blackman, W.O. Sanders and Lavon Davis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Little Oak Methodist Church Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.
The pallbearers will be Ray Kyzar, Jay Kyzar, Jason Kelley, Rhett Graham, Chase Graham, Alan Andrews and Brook Ward.
Survivors include, two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond W. and Ammanette D. Kyzar, Dothan, James Watson and Kate L. Kyzar, Goshen; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Tom Stallworth, Auburn; one brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Mary Finlay, Troy; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Margie Wilson Thomley
Margie Wilson Thomley, formerly of Dothan died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Tara Gustin, in Ft. Bragg, NC. She was born September 28, 1936 in Pike County. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Wilson Crawford and brother, Jim O. Wilson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2005 at Hamilton Crossroads Church of Christ in Brundidge with Chris Barnette officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include two sons, Greg Tharpe of Wicksburg and Mike and Shannon Thomley of Dothan, two daughters, Tara and Nate Gustin of Ft Bragg, N.C. and Lisa and Fred Clifford of Savannah, Ga.; four grandchildren, Sean Tharpe, Tyler Shook, Kennady Gustin and Ethan Clifford and three sisters, Margaret and Hubbert Shiver of Brundidge, Eva and Wayne Grace of Dothan and Olivia and Fred Miley of Nolanville, Texas.
