Brown, Lewis play in All-Star game

Two Charles Henderson High School football players, lineman Micah Brown and Quavian Lewis, will represent Troy and Pike County in Saturday night's 18th Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.

"It's a big honor for Micah and Quavian and a big honor for our program to have two players selected to this team," CHHS football coach Hugh Fountain said.

On June 18, 1988, high school football history was made when a contest featuring the best high school players from Alabama battled a squad representing the best from Mississippi in Mobile's Ladd Memorial Stadium.

And, while the All-Star Classic has now grown to become one of the top high school sporting events in the nation, it is those great players and spectacular moments of the previous contests which have made the contests so memorable.

The AHSAAsports.com web site is providing LIVE radio network coverage produced by Grace Umlimited Media Productions for the game at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.

The Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic has established an amazing legacy, featuring dozens of players who have gone on to enjoy stellar careers at both the collegiate and professional levels.

Brown, who will play college football at Southern Mississippi, will wear No. 72 for Alabama. The offensive lineman is listed as 6-3, 270 pounds.

Lewis, who will play for Vanderbilt, will wear No. 54 and is listed as a defensive end on the Alabama roster. He is 6-3, 220 pounds.
