Elmer Stone
Elmer Stone, 97, of Troy, died at Troy Health and Rehab Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005. Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Thursday, January 27, 2005
from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Royce Richards officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park. The pallbearers will be Bill Stone, Gene Bozeman, Rex Vance, Jerry Stone, David Stroud, Wayne Murphy and Charles Stroud. The honorary pallbearers will be Mike Griswold and the employees of Sorrell Lumber. Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Vance of Troy and Nolie Wood of Montgomery and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Jackson Stone.
Edgar Loflin Prescott
Edgar Loflin Prescott, 74, of
Troy, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005 at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverend Otis Derrah officiating.
Burial followed in the Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy. Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing.
Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.
Survivors include daughter, Marcia P. Perkins of Ozark; son and daughter-in-law,
Eddie and Jan Prescott of Jack; grandchildren, Danielle (Sean) Buchanan of Dothan, Josh (Donna) Prescott of Jack, Justin (Malloree Bedsole) Prescott of Jack; great-grandchildren,
Adrianne Buchanan, Katelynn Buchanan, Sarah Bryson Prescott, Christopher Buchanan, brothers and sisters-in-law, Austin and Jeanette Prescott, Troy, Byron and Ann Prescott, Wetumpka, Edward and Ann Prescott, Fitzpatrick; sister, Joyce Prescott, Troy; sisters-in-law, Olene Sanders, Troy, Anita Sanders, Anniston.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Sanders Prescott and his parents, Alto and Ida Prescott.
Serving as Pallbearers were Mark Sanders, Bart Sanders, Gary Sanders, Pete Prescott, Tim Cumuze and Dean Sanders.
Honorary Pallbearers were the Holiday Inn Coffee Club. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
Jakie Austin Sims
Jakie Austin Sims, 85, of Troy, died at his home in Troy Monday, January 24, 2005. Visitation will be at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Tuesday, January 25, 2005
from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. There will be a one hour lie-in-state prior to the service at the church. The funeral service will be held at Good Hope Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at
2:00 PM with Reverend Wayne Locklar, Reverend W.O. Sanders and Dr. Don Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. The family request that memorials be made to the Good Hope Cemetery Fund or to Wiregrass Hospice.The Pallbearers will be Billy Powell, Ralph Shirley, Charles Sanders, Jimmy King, Russell Thomas, Cephus Phillips, Jondy Spivey and Anthony Grant. The honorary pallbearers are Hospice Employess, Dr. Ben Smith, Dr. Alan Young and Dr. Andrew Duerr, Survivors include his wife-Cuba Thomas Sims of Troy, Daughter-Willodeen (Ben) Killough of Troy, 2 Sons-James (Carol) Sims of Troy and Joe (Gail) Sims of Troy, 6 Grandchildren-Teresa (Brian) Hicks of Montgomery, Brian Killough of Troy, Kelli (Aric) Walker of San Antonio, Texas, David, Crystal and Terri Sims of Troy, 2 Great grandchildren-Joel and Justin Hicks of Montgomery.
Reverend Gregory Williams
Reverend Gregory Williams, 48, of Troy, died at Troy Regional Medical Center on Saturday, January 22, 2005. Visitation was held on January 25 at Bethlehem Missionary Church in Orion, Ala.
Burial services will be today at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Orion, Ala.
Williams was preceded by his parents Sam and Mattie Williams.
Williams was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Oct. 14, 1956. He attended the Cleveland Public Schools and was a member of the U.S. Marine Corp. He was employed for 20 years at Ft. Rucker.
Williams was married to Linda Gail Scott and had six children. Williams was ordained in the ministry on Sunday, April 18, 2004 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.
Williams is survived by his wife Linda G. Williams and their six children: Olympia Williams Memphrey of Augusta, Ga., Tamara Williams of Troy, Kendra Williams of Troy, Mario Williams of Troy, Gregory Antoine Williams of Troy and Sherwin M. Williams of Troy, Six sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, a mother-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
