Bessie Pearl Chapman

Bessie Pearl Chapman, 92, of the Tennille community died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at her home.

Services will be Thursday, October 28m 2004, at 1 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church in Tennille. She will lie in state two hours prior to the service.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 27, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at Skeen Funeral Home in Brundidge.

She was born Aug. 10, 1912, in Coffee County to the late Fletcher and Lizzie Brooks. She was a spinner at Cotton Mills Manufacturing.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Leatherwood.

Survivors include a son and wife, Orron and Phyllis Leatherwood of Columbus, Ga.' a daughter and husband, Barnie Ree and Carlton Flowers of brundidge; a ddaughter-in-law, Nita Leatherwood of Hamilton, Ga. and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Christine Carmichael Hixon

Mrs. Christine Carmichael Hixon, 89, a resident of Troy, a native of Glenwood and formerly of Montgomery died Saturday Oct. 23, 2004 at her residence in Magnolia Wood Lodge. Mrs. Hixon is preceded in death by her husband, Sam D. Hixon. Survivors include three sisters, Evelyn C. Starling of Anniston, Evanell C. Jackson (Dan) and Enid C. Folmar (Walter, Sr.) both of Glenwood; a brother, Billy W. Charmichale (Rose Ann) of Stockbridge, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, LaMerle J. Carmichael of Spanish Fort and Elaine S Carmichael of Goshen Funeral service will be held at Glenwood United Methodist Church in Glenwood at 2 p.m. Monday Oct. 25, 2004 with the pastor, Rev. Bobby Weeks, officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Glenwood United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 53, Glenwood, AL 36034) in her memory.
