SSG Steve Ellis Taylor

SSG Steve Ellis Taylor, a resident of Ozark, died Friday, August 5, 2004, at Flowers Hospital. He was 44. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2004, at Antioch Baptist Church (near Ashford) with Revs. John Smith, Danny Bynum and Gregory S. Aman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. Mr. Taylor was placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Sunday. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday.

SSG Taylor was born February 10, 1960, in Houston County and lived the early years of his life in Ashford. He was a 1978 graduate of Ashford High School. He was employed with Davis-Dyar for 16 years. In July of 1992 he joined the U. S. Army and has served in Korea for the past three years. At the time of his death he was stationed at Camp Humphreys in Korea as a Technical Inspector ensuring quality control of Chinook Helicopters. SSG Taylor was the recipient of several awards including Meritorious Service Medal, three U. S Army Commendation Medals, U. S. Army Medal, Aviation Maintenance Badge, Air Assault Badge, U.S.A., Over Seas Service Ribbon, 2 NCO Professional Ribbons, 2 National Defense Service Medals and 3 USA Good Conduct Medals.

He was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles William Taylor.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Rhonda Tatum Taylor, Clarksville, Tenn.; two sons, Steven Bradley Taylor, 21, of San Marcos, Texas, and Joshua Lee Taylor, 18, of Ozark; mother, Madeline Lillian Taylor, Ashford; sister, Diane Taylor Aman and her husband, Rev. Gregory S. Aman of Ozark; nephew, Jonathan Chadwick Aman and his wife, Karen Andrews Aman, Ozark; sister-in-law, Nancy Lee Shiver and her husband, Tommy J. Shiver, Midland City; niece, Kelly Marie Shiver, Midland City and his mother-in-law, Nancy Palmer of Midland City.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be LTC Richard Juergens, COL David Abramowitz, MAJ Eric McEldowney, CPT (CH) Lucy Dergarabedian, CPT Anne Rigdon, MAJ (CH) Carleton Birch, SFC Noel Cabias and LGC Charles C. Campbell all of Korea.

Also serving as honorary pallbearers will be CW2 Dan Culberson of Ft. Rucker, SSG Dan Orr of Ft. Campbell, KY., James McCord, Joe Montgomery, Cary Andrews and Freddy Harden.

Edith Anne Johnston Wilkinson

Services for Edith Anne Johnston Wilkinson, 51, of Brundidge, who died Monday, August 9, 2004, at her home, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Springfield Baptist Church in Brundidge with Revs. John Emfinger, Richard Holmes and Don Grantham officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wilkinson was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Jeanette Johnston.

Survivors include her husband, Carl D. Wilkinson of Brundidge; daughter, Judith Lynn Wilkinson of Brundidge; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Edward Sandzimier, Chicago, Ill.; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Bernard and Doris Johnston of Dothan; mother-in-law; Ann Wilkerson of Brundidge; two sisters-in-law, Cathy Wilkerson and Tracie Gomillion both of Brundidge; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Anderson, Blaine Johnston, Bryan Johnston, Gerald Murphy, Karl Sandzimier and Chuck Volz, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of Wiregrass Hospice.

The family requests memorials be made to Wiregrass Hospice.

Margie E. Sanders Prescott

Services for Margie E. Sanders Prescott, 75, of Troy who died Friday, August 6, 2004, at Troy Regional Medical Center, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2004, in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverend Otis Derrah officiating.

Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2004, at Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.

She was preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Sanders; brothers Lester H. and Loye O. Sanders.

She is survived by her husband, Edgar L. Prescott of Troy; daughter, Marcie P. Perkins of Ozark; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Jan Prescott of Jack; three grandchildren, Danielle and Sean Buchanan of Dothan; Josh and Donna Prescott of Jack and Justin (Malloree Bedsole) Prescott of Jack; great grandchildren, Adrianne Buchanan, Katelynn Buchanan, Sarah Bryson Prescott and Christopher Buchanan; sisters-in-law Olene Sanders of Troy; Anita Sanders of Anniston and Joyce Prescott of Troy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Austin and Jeanette Prescott of Troy, Byran and Ann Prescott of Wetumpka and Edward and Ann Prescott of Fitzpatrick; and several nieces and nephews.
